Speaking at a news conference at the end of the G20 summit today, Donald Trump (top) said talks with China are 'back on track' following a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping (pictured together bottom). Trump says he told Chinese President Xi Jinping he won't impose tariffs 'for the time being' after their talk in Osaka on Saturday. 'We're not doing that.
We're going to work with China on where we left off to see if we can make a deal,' the president told reporters. President Xi also warned Trump of the risks posed by 'confrontation'. The leaders had earlier agreed to another truce in December, only to see negotiations break down after Trump said China pulled back from commitments it had made. Trump made the comments on China in a freewheeling press conference where he also pushed back at the notion that he was joking when he told Russian President Vladimir Putin not to interfere in the US elections.
Hours after the dramatic Friday morning arrest (top, bottom right) of Ayoola Adisa Ajayi, 31, for the murder of Mackenzie Lueck (bottom left) cops said that they had located the mattress (inset) missing from the suspect's home and considered key evidence. Meanwhile, contractor Brian Wolf says that Ajayi reached out to him in April and asked him to build a 'soundproof' room in the basement of his Salt Lake City home. Ajayi first proposed that Wolf build a 'secret door' to a space that was about four feet by nine feet, the contractor said. But Wolf says that Ajayi 'slowly started sidestepping into more stuff, like wanting a thumb lock on it with a fingerprint lock, and soundproofing it, and putting hooks in the concrete - it was just weird what he was asking me.'
Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, 35, and her former deputy and ex-boyfriend, Ramesh 'Sunny' Balwani, 54, (inset) are set to stand trial next August. They could face up to 20 years in jail on charges of lying to doctors and patients about blood tests and deceiving investors over finances. Their claims that Theranos could perform comprehensive blood tests on a drop of blood turned out to be phony and the company, once valued at $9 billion, was shut down by the SEC in 2018. The pair maintain their innocence. Holmes argues that the Wall Street Journal reporter who revealed that Theranos was a public health threat had unfairly influenced regulators. It's also smart economic and defense policy,' said glamorous Ivanka, President Trump's eldest daughter and adviser.
